9 January update about Zurich Vitality Guide:
Two versions of the map are shown below. One includes two locations that are further out (Irchelpark and Ziegelhutte), which shrinks the scale (makes it harder to read). However, in my opinion the difference is not significant since neither scale works well for detailed directions. It is impossible to read smaller road names on Jauntful maps–even those with the densest concentration of walks (e.g. Singapore Merchant Court and Amsterdam).
In all cases it appears that a supplementary map will be necessary if street-by-street navigation is important. This is why I think separate Google Map handouts will be important when a commercial local map is not available. Here are online examples of the Google Maps, which can be printed at any scale; here are examples of pre-selected print scales. Perhaps we can choose a scale and use it on the backside of the Jauntful printed edition.
Nina: I was unable to find S’Waeldli and Gustav-Amman Park on Google Maps. Gustav-Amman in particular sounds great, but I just could not locate it. I could include it if you show me the location. But we will need to delete something else.
History: note that I added a “note” about Oerlikon history. I don’t know if this is more valuable than another location (Gustav-Ammanpark?). Please tell me what you think. Instead of “History” we could include any other piece of local color.
Proofing Zurich/Oerlikon Nearby Attractions guide:
The pages below represent (approximately) how your Vitality Guide will look to guests viewing the web page on their Internet browsers. In the real version (which will be proofed later), clicking the folded map icon in the lower left of each entry reveals map detail, physical address, phone number, url, and a link to Google Maps for directions.
It would be wonderful if you can supply your own photos for some of these. This creates imagery that’s unique to Swissôtel and a better branded experience.
There is a download link under each embedded file. This will download the PDF, which you can mark up with your corrections and suggestions. (Updated 9 January.)
